The TCA9548A I2C Multiplexer Module lets a single master I2C bus address up to 8 separate slave I2C buses, individually or in any combination. The module solves the problem of two devices sharing a fixed I2C address, which would otherwise make it impossible to run both on one bus, and it also lets a large number of devices be split across smaller buses for loading or isolation reasons. The multiplexer is given a command naming which bus or buses to use, and all later I2C traffic keeps that configuration until it is commanded to change. The module provides 1 to 8 bi-directional I2C switches with level translation between individual buses, runs at 3.3V and 5V, and works with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32 and other microcontrollers. The module is used in sensor-heavy projects, multi-display setups and any application needing I2C address expansion.
